Tamara Mellon, The Woman Behind the Label
Designer, entrepreneur and fashion icon, Tamara Mellon, is committed to making the best-quality luxury fashion with the modern woman in mind. She is a rarity — a woman designing shoes for women in a field dominated by male designers.
Her passion for design has been honed over 20 years. A former editor at Vogue UK, she launched Jimmy Choo in 1996. Becoming the CEO and Chief Creative Officer, she went on to create a legendary brand. Under her leadership the object-of-desire shoes became a cultural landmark, a favorite of both Princess Diana and Sex And the City’s Carrie Bradshaw.

After stepping down from that brand in 2011 she launched her eponymous line in 2013. Tamara knows the customer’s needs because they’re her own needs. She looked at fashion’s rigid seasons and knew that modern women didn’t want to shop that way any more. They lead busy lives, and when it comes to fashion no-one knows better than they do what they need and when they need it. They want to shop on their own terms and not to be dictated to, so she created a label for them. That label is Tamara Mellon.
